The Sydney Ultra Marathons exist to prove something simple, that Sydney, one of the world’s biggest cities, still has deep, wild bushland on its doorstep. And that you can run serious ultra marathon distances through it without compromise.

The event is held within Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Garigal National Park, Manly Dam and surrounding reserves, offering genuine trail running just minutes from the city.

There are three event distances on offer

• SUM 30: 30 km

• SUM 50: 50 km

• SUM 100: 100 km

All distances start from St Ives Showground, located approximately 27 minutes’ drive from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, making the Sydney Ultra Marathons one of the most accessible ultra events in the world.

Yes. All distances feature fully stocked aid stations at regular intervals. What is found at the aid stations is TBD.

180 Cadence takes course marking very seriously.

All the Sydney Ultra Marathon courses are thoroughly and clearly marked using signage, trail flags and marshals at key points + intersections

All participants are required to carry the full list of mandatory gear from start to finish throughout the race. Random gear checks will be conducted before letting you into the starting corral. Failure to carry all mandatory gear during the race will result in disqualification

Runners will be able to park at St Ives Showground for free for the entirety of the event.

There will be no need for additional shuttle buses or to purchase a parking pass

The Sydney Ultra Marathons take place across two days in July 2026, with all races starting from St Ives Showground on Sydney’s Upper North Shore.

There will be a bag drop available at the start and finish line for all races.

During the SUM 100 there will be a bag drop available during the race.

You will be able to collect your bib only on race day morning. Bibs will not be posted out

Unfortunately, pacers are not allowed for the Sydney Ultra Marathons

The Sydney Ultra Marathons has strict race capacities to avoidtrail clog and long lines. For 2026 the capacities are as follows:

SUM 100: 250 runners

SUM 50: 400 runners

SUM 30: 550 runners

Yes all SUM results are uploaded to ITRA + UTM for indexing.

The start line at St Ives Showground is approximately a 27-minute drive* from the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

*On race morning, traffic is typically light.
