WELCOME TO THE 2025
SYDNEY ULTRA MARATHONS
Thank you to everyone who has signed up for the Sydney Ultra Marathons. This is 180 Cadence’s biggest event yet, and we’re so excited to bring it to life
We’re proud to launch the inaugural SUM 80, a truly spectacular course that showcases some of the best trails in Sydney. The SUM 30 and SUM 50 return with refined courses from last year, and we’re thrilled to welcome back familiar faces as well as new ones. It’s also an honour to see so many familiar 180 Cadence runners stepping up to longer distances. We can’t wait to cheer you across the finish line
A special thank you to NSW National Parks, Ku-Ring-Gai Council, and Northern Beaches Council for helping make this possible. Thank you also to our incredible volunteers, spectators, crew, medical team, timing team, photographers, videographers, traffic controllers, aid station captains, and of course, every runner taking part in SUM
If you need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Alex Treglown, Event Director

We will have two marshals placed at the lights pushing the crossing button as runners approach. Runners will not be allowed to cross the road until the green signal is displayed. If a runner crosses the road on a red signal, they will be disqualified.

Safety is a top priority for us at the Sydney Trail Marathon. We strongly encourage all runners to keep an eye out for one another throughout the race. In the spirit of camaraderie and mutual support that defines the trail running community, we ask that you stay vigilant and assist fellow runners in need
Should you encounter any issues or emergencies during the event, please do not hesitate to contact the medical team immediately. Their number is found on the back of your bib.
For your safety and wellbeing, we have trained medical staff stationed at the race hub and all aid stations. Additionally, to ensure everyone's safety throughout the event, sweepers will follow the last runners.
-
As part of our commitment to protecting the natural environment, we have implemented a Phytophthora management plan for the Sydney Ultra Marathons to help stop root rot.
Phytophthora is a harmful plant pathogen that can spread through soil and plant material, posing a serious threat to native vegetation. To prevent its spread, all runners will be required to dip their shoes in a foot bath before entering the starting corral. There will also be points on course where runners will need to run through a foot dip.
This simple but effective measure ensures that we minimize the risk of introducing or spreading Phytophthora in the sensitive natural areas our race course traverses. Your cooperation is essential in helping us protect these ecosystems while enjoying the race.
-
As we run through some of Sydney's most beautiful and sensitive natural areas, it's important that we all do our part to maintain the trails and respect fellow runners. Please follow these trail etiquette guidelines to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone:
Leave no trace (take all your belongings and trash with you)
Cupless event
Let faster runners overtake
Avoid wearing headphones, unless open-ear
Stay on marked trails
Communicate with others (e.g., "on your left" or "on your right" when passing)
Yield to hikers and other trail users
Keep poles close to your body when passing or being passed
Thank you for helping us keep the trails beautiful and safe for everyone!
-
Given that the course can be quite technical at points it is our recommendation that you wear a trail running shoes during the even.
