On Sunday, July 26th 2026, the SUM 30 presents Sydney’s benchmark 30km trail race. A 30km loop through Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park.

It starts at St Ives Showground, then drops into the Wildflower Gardens, a tight, technical single track through bushland pockets that feel a world away from suburbia.

From there, the course enters Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park, climbing up the Sphinx before descending Bobbin Head Fire Trail to sweeping views over Bobbin Head. The trail then narrows onto Warimoo Track, tracing Cowan Creek on shaded waterfront single track. The loop returns through the Wildflower Gardens, finishing back at St Ives Showground.

Mandatory gear list

The Sydney Ultra Marathon 30km course traverses trails where it might take some time for medical and support services to reach you, therefore it is essential that every athlete carry their mandatory gear at all times.

SUM is a cupless event. Athletes are required to carry their own drinking cup, bottle, flask or hydration vest which can be used at the aid stations.
